Iranian lightweight boxer Kamyab Moradi has produced dazzling performances at the 30th edition of the International Youth Men Ahmet Comert Boxing Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey, and landed in the first position of chart.
Moradi trounced Swedish opponent Anton Kulppi-Svensson in his first competition of the preliminary round of the men’s 60-kilogram category at the Ahmet Comert sport hall in Atakoy neighborhood of Istanbul’s Bakirkoy district, before winning over Turkey’s Onur Arsalan in the next.
The Iranian sportsman overcame Edmond Zefi from Kosovo in the quarterfinals, and emerged victorious in his semi-final bout against South Korea’s Jonguun Lee later on.
Moradi fought against Azerbaijani rival Elmaddin Ismayilov in the final contest, where he drew the spectators’ awe with a stunning display of skills and strength, and received the gold medal.
The 30th edition of International Youth Men Ahmet Comert Boxing Tournament opened in Istanbul, Turkey, on October 19, and finished on October 25.
The tournament has brought together a total of 154 boxers from 14 countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
Ahmet Comert (1926–1990) was a Turkish amateur boxer, coach, referee, judge and sports official. He served in the executive committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
He died of apparent heart failure, while on duty during the 1990 European Junior Boxing Championship in the Czechoslovakia.
