Iranian rock climber Reza Alipour has won the gold medal in the 2015 International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in China.
The Iranian sportsman achieved the top honor in the men’s speed record category on Saturday in a tough competition with his Czech opponent Libor Hroza.
Bassa Mawem from France, Ukraine’s Danyil Boldyrev, Polish climber Marcin Dzienski, Russian athletes Aleksandr Shilov and Stanislav Kokorin, and Zhong Qixin from China claimed the third to eighth places.
In the men’s lead contests, Spanish climber Ramón Julian Puigblanque stood in first place, and was followed by Jakob Schubert from Austria. Slovenian athlete Domen Skofic, Canada’s Sean McColl, Czech climber Adam Ondra and Sebastian Halenke from Germany, Japanese sportsman Minoru Nakano and France’s Gautier Supper finished third to eighth.
Meanwhile, Russian athlete Mariia Krasavina took the first place in the women’s speed section, ahead of Anouck Jaubert from France and Poland’s Edyta Ropek. Iuliia Kaplina from Russia, Poland’s Aleksandra Rudzinska, Ukrainian sportswoman Alla Marenych, Klaudia Buczek from Poland and Russia’s Anna Tsyganova stood in the fourth to eighth places.
In the women’s lead division, Kim Jain from South Korea finished first, and was followed by Austrian sportswoman Jessica Pilz and France’s Hélène Janicot. Japanese climber Yuka Kobayashi, Mina Markovic from Slovenia, Austria’s Magdalena Röck, Belgian athlete Anak Verhoeven and Katharina Posch from Austria stood fourth to eighth.
The 2015 IFSC Climbing World Cup started in China’s eastern city of Wujiang on October 17, and wrapped up on October 18.
