Two people, including a civilian, have been killed in a shooting attack by armed bandits in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-and-Baluchestan, a local official say.
Ali Moradi, the head of the public relations office of Sistan-and-Baluchestan’s education department, said Tuesday that a teacher lost his life when a group of bandits opened fire at security forces at a gas station in the city of Iranshahr.
A policeman, identified as Sobhani-nia, also lost his life in the shooting assault.
Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province has witnessed insecurity on a number of occasions due to the presence and activities of criminal gangs there.
On October 8, 2014, three Iranian police officers were killed when they came under an overnight attack by armed bandits while on a mission in the city of Saravan in Sistan-and-Baluchestan.
Iran has repeatedly criticized its eastern neighbors, particularly Pakistan, for failing to rein in terrorists who cross the borders into these countries after carrying out their attacks on the Iranian soil.
In February 2013, Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering the activities that pose a threat to the national security of either country.
