The United Nations has confirmed that a temple in the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra has been destroyed by Daesh terrorists.
The UN Training and Research Agency said a satellite image showed the destruction of the main building of the Temple of Bel. This, after a powerful blast rocked the ancient site on Sunday. Earlier, Syrian officials said the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site did NOT appear to have sustained major damage. A week earlier, the Takfiri terror group also blew up the smaller Ba’al Shamin temple in Palmyra. Daesh has destroyed many historical monuments in Syria and Iraq since it began to overrun territories in the two countries.
