A helicopter has crashed in a mountainous region in northeast Nepal, killing all four people on board, officials say.

Nepal Police spokesman Kamal Singh Bam said on Tuesday that the accident happened on the Yamuna Danda hill near Balefi village as the copter was returning to the capital, Kathmandu.

The official added that rescuers have recovered the bodies of the victims, who include three men and a woman, from the crash site.

The latest aerial accident comes nearly three weeks after a UH-1Y Huey helicopter came down on an aid mission in the north of the country following a devastating quake. At least six US Marines and two Nepalese soldiers were killed in the crash.

Relief teams from around the world have been working to provide basic necessities and medical aid to regions affected by the deadliest quake to hit the country.

On April 25, Nepal was rocked by an 8.1-magnitude earthquake. Nearly 9,000 people were killed and many others were injured or displaced.

The earthquake also destroyed more than half a million homes and left huge numbers of people without shelter. The United Nations says the quake has affected more than a quarter of Nepal’s 28 million people.
