A senior Iranian commander says free nations in the world are determined to defend Syria, stressing the United States will suffer a bitter defeat in the Arab state.
“Syria is regarded as an important country and a key link in the [anti-Israeli] resistance [front] and all [states] have the duty to stand by the great Syrian government and nation in the US proxy war,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said in a Sunday meeting with top commanders and officials of Iran’s Armed Forces.
He added that the creation of the ISIL terrorist group was a result of the US state terrorism aimed at spreading Islamophobia.
The Iranian commander said implementing the plan to create the "New Middle East," making changes to serve the Israeli regime’s illegitimate interests, undermining regional nations’ resistance and awareness as well as destroying the culture and civilization of regional countries in cooperation with bullying powers in the region are among other objectives behind creation of the ISIL Takfiri group.
“The modern world now faces a new form of the greatest act of state terrorism whose destructive consequences will definitely affect [the countries] outside the region and the governments sponsoring it as well,” Jazayeri added.
The Iranian commander said Syria is currently facing a “ruthless” war waged by the US, Israeli regime, some European states and reactionary regional countries.
However, he added, Syria’s resistance over the recent years clearly indicates that the brave Syrian nation is determined to resist and “enemies will undoubtedly have no option but to retreat.”
Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 222,000 people, according to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says over 7.2 million people have been internally displaced, and more than 3 million have been forced to flee the country.
The Takfiris currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq and Syria.
