Iranian welterweight boxer Sajjad Kazemzadeh has won a bronze medal at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Uzbekistan.

Kazemzadeh, who had earlier made it to the semi-final in the 69-kilogram weight category, had to settle for a bronze medal after losing to Uzbekistan's Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medalist Shakhram Giyasov on Friday, the Islamic Republic of Iran Boxing Federation website reported.

With the result, the Iranian boxer qualified for the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur (AIBA) World Boxing Championships 2017, which will take place at Sporthalle Hamburg, Germany, between August 25 and September 2.

The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships kicked off in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on April 30 and will conclude on May 7, 2017.
