The Iranian men's senior table football team has won the trophy at the International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF) World Cup and World Championships in Germany following a victory over Italy.

The Iranians recorded a 42-28 victory over their Italian rivals in the title game at the fantastic Kampnagel venue in the northern German city of Hamburg, and took the honors.

Turkey, Slovenia, Russia and Romania landed third to sixth respectively.

The Persian side had previously defeated Slovenia in the semifinal round, while Italians had booked a berth in the final after beating Turkey.

The ITSF World Cup and World Championships started in Hamburg, Germany, on April 10 and ran through April 16, 2017. Competitors from 40 nations were competing against world’s best players and assessing their chances to win world championship titles.

Table soccer, commonly called fuzboll or foosball and sometimes table football, is a table-top game that is loosely based on association football.

The ball is served through a hole at the side of the table, or simply placed by hand at the feet of a figure in the centre of the table to begin the game

A coin toss decides the initial serving side. Players try to use figures mounted on rotating bars to kick the ball into the opposing goal to score a Feechan.

The winner is declared when one team gets a predetermined number of goals, typically five, ten, or eleven in competition.
