Iran handball team held to draw in Asian Men’s Club League Championship

Iran’s Gachsaran Oil and Gas handball club has launched it campaign at the 19th edition of the Asian Men’s Club League Championship in Jordan with a draw against the Al Jazira of the United Arab of Emirates.

On Saturday, the Iranian side was held to a 35-all draw against the Emirati team in a close and thrilling Group A encounter staged in the Jordanian capital city of Amman.

Gachsaran Oil and Gas handball club is scheduled to play against El Jaish from Qatar in its second group stage match on Sunday.

The 19th edition of Asian Men’s Club League Championship kicked off in Amman, Jordan, on October 29 and will run until November 5, 2016.

Iran’s Gachsaran Oil and Gas handball club is drawn in the same group as El Jaish, Al Jazira, and Jordan’s al-Ahli.

The Lekhwiya handball team of Qatar, Bahrain’s al-Ahli club, al-Noor of Saudi Arabia, and Ahli Sidab club from Oman are drawn in Group B.

Iranian women’s handball squad loses 3rd match

Meanwhile, Iran’s Shahrdari Sanandaj handball club has conceded its third defeat in a match at the first edition of the Asian Women’s Handball Club League Championship in Kazakhstan, losing to a team from Uzbekistan.

The Iranian team lost to Uzbechka outfit at its third match, played in the south central city of Kyzylorda.

The Iranian sportswomen will face counterparts from Qatar in their last preliminary round game on Sunday.

The first edition of the Asian Women’s Handball Club League Championship started in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan, on October 26 and will finish on November 1, 2016.

Three teams from Kazakhstan as well as teams from Uzbekistan, Iran and Qatar are competing in the continental contest.
