Japan’s junior soccer team routs Iran 4-1 in China tournament

Iran’s national under-17 soccer team has lost to powerhouse Japan in its last match in the Jiangyin Zhouzhuang Cup CFA International Youth Football Tournament 2016 in China.

On Wednesday evening, the young Iranian athletes suffered a 4-1 loss to the Japanese side in a match played at Jiang Yin Sports Center Stadium in China’s eastern city of Jiangyin.

The Iranian squad, domestically known as Nojavanan, included goalkeeper Meraj Esmaeili, defenders Mohammad Reza Davari, Mehrdad Zarei, Aref Mohammadalipour, Taha Shariati, midfielders Mohammad Sharifi, Amir Hossein Khodamoradi, Vahid Namdari, Mohammad Ghaderi, Amir Hossein Hosseinpour, and striker Mohammad Reza Ghobeishavi.

Namdari netted the sole goal for Iran against Japan in the 12th minute.

The Persians had achieved a 2-1 win over Uzbekistan in their second fixture last Thursday. The Iranian squad had suffered a narrow 1-2 loss from the hosts in its opening match on May 10.

The Jiangyin Zhouzhuang Cup CFA International Youth Football Tournament 2016 kicked off in Jiangyin, China, on May 7, and will run through May 16.
