In the fourth week of the Group A of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Iran's national football team showcased its dominance by defeating Qatar 4-1 at Dubai's Rashid Stadium.

Iran, coming off with two victories against Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with a draw against Uzbekistan, entered the match with momentum. However, it was Qatar who struck first, taking the lead with a 17th-minute goal by Almoez Ali.

The Iranians responded with flair as star forward Sardar Azmoun netted twice—once before halftime in the 42nd minute and again just after the break in the 48th minute—putting Team Melli in control.

Iran's offensive prowess continued in the second half, with winger Mohammad Mohebi adding two more goals in the 65th and deep into stoppage time at 90+7, securing a convincing victory.

With this win, Iran now sits at the top of the Group A standings with 10 points, leading on goal difference ahead of Uzbekistan.

Qatar, with 4 points, drops to fourth place behind the UAE.

In other group action, Uzbekistan defeated the UAE 1-0, while Kyrgyzstan edged past North Korea by the same scoreline.

Kyrgyzstan holds fifth place with 3 points, while North Korea remains at the bottom with 2 points.
