Iran downs Kazakhstan to cruise into FIBA Women's Asia Cup semi-finals

The Iranian women's national basketball team has defeated Kazakhstan at the FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division B 2023 in Thailand to book a spot in the semi-finals of the continental tournament.

The sportswomen registered a 54-41 victory over their Kazakh counterparts in a fixture staged at the Nimibutr Stadium in the Thai capital city of Bangkok on Thursday.

Negin Rasoulipour, who was among the players to watch, continued to be a standout performer and led Iran in scoring 16 points. Faezeh Shahriari was a bit behind with 14 points for Iran and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Kazakhstan’s Anna Bezgodova scored 15 points and 6 rebounds.

The Iranian basketball team is scheduled to take on Jordan in a semi-final match on Friday.

The FIBA Women's Asia Cup Division B 2023 started in Thailand on August 13, and will wrap up on August 19.
