Camila Escalante began reporting for PressTV in Latin America in 2021. She's been primarily based in South America since 2016, focusing on the region’s fight against U.S. imperialism and the process of building regional integration and socialism as an alternative. She spent several years as a broadcast editor, presenter and anchor at teleSUR English in Quito, Ecuador.
Camila reported on the hybrid war on Venezuela from 2017 to 2021 and reported on the coup in Bolivia in November 2019 and the historic return to power by the MAS in the 2020 elections. For PressTV, Camila has covered key political events in Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Canada. Most recently, she followed closely the election campaign and return of Lula da Silva to the presidency in Brazil.
Camila is the co-founder and Editor of Kawsachun News, an outlet which provides on the ground reporting from around Latin America.
