A report by the Iranian Fars news agency says Iran’s Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri and former Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani have been disqualified by the country’s Constitutional Council from running in the June 18 presidential election.

Es’haq Jahangiri is a prominent politician and Iran’s current vice president. He will be running in the June 18 presidential election as the Reformist camp’s top candidate.

Iranian Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri has registered to run in the June 18 presidential election, pitting himself against Ebrahim Raeisi, who is seen as the Principlists’ main candidate.

The number-one choices of the Principlist and Reformist political camps for candidacy in Iran’s 2021 presidential election have yet to put down their names for the race, one day before the registration of hopefuls officially ends.
