UAE confirms 52 Emirati soldiers killed in Yemen last week
The United Arab Emirates confirms that the number of its soldiers killed in Yemen last week has risen to 52.
The newly-identified bodies were received in a military ceremony in Abu Dhabi Airport. The UAE had said 45 Emirati troopers were among dozens of Saudi-led foreign troopers killed in the attack by Ansarullah fighters and allied army units in Ma’rib province. At least 70 soldiers were also injured in the missile attack. Thousands of troops from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar have been deployed to Yemen. Qatar-owned Al Jazeera TV has put the number of foreign soldiers there at around 10-thousand. The months-long Saudi airstrikes have failed to defeat Ansarullah fighters and reinstate fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Nearly, 5200 Yemenis have been killed in the Saudi offensive since it began in March.
