Millions of Britons have started casting their votes in general elections seen as the most unpredictable in a generation. The voting will be underway until 21 00 GMT. Exit polls are to be published immediately, with the final results expected Friday afternoon. Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservative party and the opposition Labour are considered as the main rivals in the race to the Westminster. Small parties - including the Scottish National Party, the right-wing UK Independence Party and Liberal Democrats are seen as the king-makers. Conservative and Labour parties will struggle to form a coalition with these parties.

Britons are set to go to the polls on Thursday for the most unpredictable elections in years. Party leaders and candidates are criss-crossing the country as part of their last-ditch efforts on the final day of campaigning. Polls suggest that no party will win enough seats for an outright majority. Tens of millions are registered to vote, and nearly 4,000 candidates are in the running for Westminster. Ballots will be cast in around 50-thousand polling stations around the country including in unusual places like pubs, caravans and even garages. The initial results for the 650 seats of parliament will be announced Thursday night and final results are not expected until Friday afternoon.
