The move to deport a further group of Jamaicans from the UK has caused an outcry among migrant rights advocates who say the move is unfair and politically motivated.

The UK government has given millions of EU citizens who live in the country until the end of June to apply for settled status amid fears that many will miss that deadline, creating another group of undocumented migrants.

The wrongful detainment, deportation and denial of legal rights predominantly affecting Britain's Caribbean communities, known as the Windrush scandal, first made headlines several years ago, mostly impacting the generations who had legally migrated to the UK between the late 1940s and early 1970s.

In a damning report the equalities watchdog has harshly criticized the Home Office for a successive wave of institutional and leadership failings over their management of the Windrush scandal.
