Hamas: Surrender not an option; Netanyahu’s murders aimed at securing political future

A senior Hamas official has reiterated the Palestinian resistance group’s assertion that surrender was not among its options, while strongly condemning the ongoing Israeli war of genocide on the Gaza Strip and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for committing war crimes in pursuit of his own political survival.

Sami Abu Zuhri, head of Hamas’ Political Bureau abroad, said in a statement on Tuesday that the group “has never surrendered and continues its efforts to fulfill the demands of the Palestinian people.”

He reaffirmed Hamas’ commitment to using “all instruments of pressure” to confront the occupying regime and emphasized that the group had positively engaged with all ceasefire initiatives that were aimed at addressing the legitimate needs of Palestinians.

“The Hamas movement will never raise the white flag, and is using all its means to pressure the occupiers,” he stressed.

Zuhri further denounced the Israeli regime’s deliberate campaign of starvation and collective punishment against Gaza’s population, which Tel Aviv has been employing through a suffocating siege that it has enforced on the coastal sliver concomitantly with the war.

“The occupiers have committed various massacres, targeted families, and continue the war of starvation against the children of the Palestinian nation,” he said.

The official lambasted Netanyahu for leveraging the war on Gaza for personal political gain, referring to the Israeli premier’s brandishing the warfare as the sole way of enabling the release of the Israeli captives that remain in Gaza, and working feverishly towards the brutal military onslaught’s prolongation.

He also slammed US President Donald Trump for his role in enabling the Israeli campaign of bloodletting and destruction by heavily arming the regime and protecting it against punitive measures.

“Netanyahu is acting in line with his political future, and Trump is his partner in killing Gaza’s residents,” he said.

Abu Zuhri also directed strong criticism at Arab governments, blasting them for inaction in the face of Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe.

“I say to all the rulers of Arab countries: Shame on you, that for a month and a half not a single piece of bread nor a single bottle of water has entered the Gaza Strip, and the residents of this territory are living under such conditions. Why have you surrendered to Netanyahu’s will?” he asked.
