In a shocking escalation, Nigerian security forces once again unleashed deadly violence on peaceful pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

The latest incident occurred in late March during an International Quds Day rally in Abuja, the nation's capital.

At least 26 protesters lost their lives as troops opened fire on the crowd.

Over 300 individuals were arrested, including 60 minors, with 11 detainees reportedly in critical condition.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, led by Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, has condemned the attack and vowed legal action against the government.

A leaked communiqué reveals that Nigerian authorities, despite acknowledging the peaceful nature of the demonstrations, justified the crackdown by citing potential threats to US and Israeli regime interests.

This rationale has been used repeatedly by pro-Israel officials in Nigeria to justify violent crackdowns on members of the Islamic Movement.

The silence from the international community is deafening.

Among the most persecuted groups in the world, Shia Muslims in Nigeria continue to face relentless oppression. The question remains: why are they targeted so ruthlessly?
