Retaliation rages on: Yemen targets US aircraft carrier in Red Sea with missiles, drones

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree makes a statement on the latest retaliatory operation against the US, on April 11, 2025.

Yemen’s Armed Forces have once again vowed to continue their resistance and reprisal against pro-Israeli American military aggression, confirming that they have freshly targeted an American aircraft carrier in a renewed show of defiance.

In a statement on Friday, the forces said their missile, drone, and naval units had carried out a retaliatory attack against USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea. The vessel has been deployed to the waters to function at the forefront of the aggressive American naval presence there.

The Yemeni strikes that used a number of cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, were part of a broader joint military operation aimed at neutralizing enemy warships, the statement read.

In March, the United States markedly escalated its deadly assaults on Yemen in a bid to stop the anti-Israeli strikes that have been taking place since the Israeli regime’s launch of a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

Yemen too has ramped up its defensive operations in response.

The forces reaffirmed their resilience, asserting that despite the US’s attempts to target Yemeni defensive capabilities, the offensive campaign “has had no effect on our military strength.”

The servicemen further emphasized their commitment to safeguarding the country both on land and at sea, with a focus on responding to any future acts of aggression.

The statement also highlighted widespread public support for the resistance, citing the “honorable million-man march” that took place in the capital Sana’a’s Sab'een Square earlier in the day, alongside similar demonstrations in other parts of the country.

The marches were seen as a powerful expression of Yemen’s rejection of American military adventurism and the Yemeni people’s ongoing fight for preservation of their national sovereignty, the forces stated.

They described the public rallies as a testament to the strength and unity of the Yemeni people, who view their resistance as a religious and moral duty. “Our people have shown their firm stance against this aggression, affirming that they will never kneel except before Allah, the Almighty,” the statement added.

“Sooner or later, the enemy will realize that the steadfast, struggling people of Yemen do not submit or kneel except to Allah, the Almighty, the Compeller.”
