In one of Morocco’s largest demonstrations in recent months, protesters have gathered in the streets of the capital, Rabat, to rally against Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza and the US support for the occupying entity.

In one of the Arab nation’s largest demonstrations in recent months, people of Morocco filled areas of the capital Rabat on Sunday to condemn Israel.

The demonstrators trampled Israel’s flags, held banners of assassinated Hamas leaders, especially Yahya Sinwar, and waved posters that depicted the pictures of Palestinian refugees alongside US President Donald Trump.

Children carried white shrouds stained in red in order to symbolize the thousands of young victims of the regime’s 18-month-long assault against the enclave.

The demonstrators chanted, “People want the liberation of Palestine,” called the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal, and demanded an end to the siege of Gaza and for aid to be allowed in.

They called on their leaders to end all ties with the regime, established in 2020 under the US-brokered Abraham Accords, with protesters calling such ties “treason.”

“(Trump) has made the war worse,” said Mohammed Toussi, who traveled from Casablanca with his family to protest. “Biden hid some things, but Trump has shown it all,” he added.

The Moroccan protests echoed similar demonstrations across West Asia and North Africa, where pro-Palestinian rallies took place in Morocco’s economic hub, Casablanca, Tunisia, and Yemen.

Morocco has officially called for an immediate and lasting cessation of the war in Gaza, without severing its ties to Israel.

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime has killed more than 50,695 Palestinians have wounded more than 115,475 others, most of whom are children and women.
