The Indian Parliament has passed the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025, despite facing significant opposition. The ruling BJP claims the legislation aims to introduce transparency and efficiency in Waqf institutions and properties, which are charitable or religious endowments primarily benefiting the Muslim community.

Opposition parties and Muslim groups have denounced the bill as an attempt to weaken the Muslim community and undermine Muslim constitutional rights.
