Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has extended his congratulations to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

In a phone conversation on Saturday, Erdogan called on Pezeshkian to convey his greetings to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Eid al-Fitr.

He asked God Almighty to make this Eid blessed and full of goodness for the Iranian people and all Muslim nations in the world.

He pointed to a session of the Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Committee, which is scheduled to be held within the next few months, and said the participants can hold detailed talks on issues of mutual interests and regional and international developments.

The Iranian president, for his part, expressed hope that the Muslim people of Turkey and all Muslim nations across the world would enjoy the blessings of Eid al-Fitr.

Pezeshkian hoped to meet Erdogan to discuss ways to improve mutual relations and issues of common interest in addition to common regional and international topics.

Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world. It marks the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan.

The occasion falls on the first day of the 10th lunar calendar month of Shawwal, the start of which varies based on the sighting of the new moon by local religious authorities.
