A former British lawmaker and the chairman of a Zionist lobby group with close ties to the Israeli embassy in the UK has been caught by pedophile hunters while attempting to meet with a child, police say.
The 66-year-old man detained on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child appears to be Ivor Caplin, the head of the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM), Sussex Police confirmed.

The JLM has been a formal Zionist affiliate of the Labour Party since 1920 and has close ties to policymakers both in the Israeli regime and the UK government.
The live footage of Caplin’s arrest has been uploaded to Facebook. It reveals him being handcuffed by police who appear then to take his phone and put it inside an evidence bag.
A police spokesperson said: "We are aware of footage circulating on social media showing a man in Brighton being detained on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child.”
"Officers can confirm that a local 66-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, January 11, and currently remains in custody. This is an ongoing and active investigation," said the spokesperson.
With the help of the Zionist lobby in 2001, Caplin became an assistant government whip, and then a junior defense minister and minister for Veterans at the Ministry of Defense.
He also represented Hove, a seaside resort in East Sussex, in parliament between 1997 and 2005, but was suspended from the Labour Party in 2024 over “serious allegations.”
