NATO, US suicidal expansionism

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a political-military alliance established with the signing of the Washington Treaty in 1949, was created to supposedly ensure the collective defense of its members, led by the United States, against any aggression from an external power, particularly the USSR at that time.

However, after the USSR was dissolved along with the bloc of socialist countries in Europe, NATO not only persisted but expanded significantly, becoming heavily armed and bringing the world to the brink of another world war.
