US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The death toll continues to climb in the Gaza Strip as the US-Israeli genocide rages on. An Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least five Palestinians and injured many others. Two Palestinians were also earlier injured when Israeli aircraft bombed a house in Nuseirat. To the north, at least four Palestinians were killed and several others injured after Israeli warplanes targeted a group of Palestinians in Jabalia. In Rafah, southern Gaza, an Israeli drone strike claimed the life of at least one person. The US-Israeli genocide in Gaza began in October 2023. Since then, more than 45,800 Palestinians have been killed and over 109,000 others injured.
'Resistance resilience'
Hezbollah's capabilities have been restored, and it is ready to confront any aggression in the manner it deems appropriate. That’s according to Wafiq Safa, head of the resistance group’s Coordination and Liaison Unit. Safa says Hezbollah is prepared for all challenges and will always stand firm in defense of the people and their morale. He was addressing reporters from the site of the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah leader, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. Safa said Nasrallah’s funeral will take place after the 60-day timeframe foreseen in the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire deal for the withdrawal of the regime forces from the Arab country. He added that Lebanese Parliament speaker, Nabih Berri, will discuss the frequent Israeli violations of the deal with US special envoy Amos Hochstein. He also noted that Hezbollah will not veto Army Commander General Joseph Aoun’s decision to become Lebanon’s president.
Russia-Ukraine war
Russia says Ukrainian forces have launched a counter-attack to halt a Russian advance towards the western border region of Kursk. Russia's Defense Ministry said Ukrainian forces used tanks, armored vehicles, and demolition machinery in the attack. It added the attack took place some 15 kilometers from the Ukrainian border near the village of Berdin in the Kursk region. Russia claims to have repelled the attack and is now targeting Ukraine's military positions in the region. Ukrainian sources confirmed the attack but provided no further details. Earlier in August, Kiev launched a surprise attack on Kursk region seizing dozens of villages but its advances stalled after Moscow rushed reinforcements to the area. Russia and Ukraine have been at war for about three years, with both sides controlling portions of each other's territory.
