The Israeli regime’s forces have abducted four patients who were being transferred from the Indonesian Hospital to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
In a statement on Sunday, the health ministry said a total of 10 patients were in transit when the abductions occurred, adding that the remaining six patients, along with 10 medical staff, remain at the Indonesian Hospital under dire conditions.
The ministry also condemned the incident, highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis as Israeli actions continue to target Gaza’s already overwhelmed healthcare system.
In recent days, the regime forces have intensified the week-long siege of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya, and the al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia refugee camp.
On Friday, the Israeli regime’s forces removed medical staff, and patients from Kamal Adwan Hospital at gunpoint and transferred them to the damaged Indonesian Hospital.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, was also arrested and taken to an interrogation center. “The Israeli military conducted field executions in [the hospital’s] vicinity”, the Ministry added.
The Israeli regime’s army issued a statement confirming it launched a raid on the Kamal Adwan Hospital, falsely claiming that the medical facility “serve[d] as a Hamas stronghold in northern Gaza”.
MedGlobal, a humanitarian NGO providing healthcare in disaster areas, and the World Health Organization said that they were “appalled” by the raids on the hospitals.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza has called on international organizations to intervene urgently to address the patients’ critical needs.
Furthermore, the regime has begun shelling the Baptist Hospital, the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza.
This is while a harsh winter has enveloped the region and the weather reaches as low as -10 degrees Celsius at night. In the last week alone five newborn babies have died from lack of access to medical care and hypothermia.
Since October 2023, the Israeli regime’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people has claimed the lives of more than 45,000 and injured 107,000 individuals, most of whom are children and women.
