Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi says all countries must make serious efforts to put an end to the Israeli regime’s atrocities and punish its criminal authorities.

Takht Ravanchi made the remarks in a meeting with Funakoshi Takehiro, Japan’s Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, during a regular Japan-Iran Vice-Ministerial Consultation in Tehran on Sunday.

He said the Israeli regime continues its genocidal war in occupied Palestine and has expanded its aggression against Syria.

The international community shoulders a shared responsibility to confront Israel’s heinous crimes, especially war crimes and genocide, he added.

At least 44,976 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed and 106,759 people wounded in Israel’s war in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The brutal military onslaught enjoys unreserved military and political support on the part of the Israeli regime’s Western allies, including the United States and France.

In an interview with Khamenei.ir published on Sunday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said it is “not impossible” to issue a death sentence for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu over war crimes he committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Pointing to diplomatic relations between Tehran and Tokyo, Takht Ravanchi said it is “imperative and necessary” to continue bilateral consultations at different levels.

The top Iranian diplomat called for the improvement of mutual relations, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors.

He welcomed Japan’s more effective role in maintaining security and stability in West Asia.

The Japanese diplomat, for his part, pointed to cordial relations between Tehran and Tokyo and said his country is determined to deepen ties.

He highlighted the significance of political consultations between the two countries on regional and global issues, particularly the ongoing developments in the West Asia region. He expressed his country’s readiness to continue the talks with Iran.
