Disputes over religious sites in India

In India, legal disputes over places of worship are intensifying, with courts overwhelmed by hundreds of lawsuits asserting that historical Muslim sites were built on demolished Hindu temples.

Right-wing Hindu groups, largely affiliated with the ruling party, have launched campaigns to reclaim these lands, claiming ancient temples once stood there.
