Syria transition phase
The Syrian Prime Minister has affirmed the government’s focus on a smooth power transition, noting improved security in Damascus following the recent escalations. Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jallali stated that the government remains functional, with ministers addressing public needs and maintaining order. He's also met with transitional government head Mohammad Al-Bashir and the militants’ leader Mohammad Al-Jolani. Discussions were centered on preventing chaos and facilitating a peaceful transfer of authority. Meanwhile, Iran has stressed the importance of preserving Syria’s sovereignty and fostering dialogue, while China urged all parties to prioritize the Syrian people’s welfare and seek a political resolution.
Israel Syria attacks
Israeli forces have conducted fresh attacks against Syria’s military positions after the militants’ takeover of the Arab country. The latest of such attacks targeted a weapons depot in the province of Dara’a. In another strike, dozens of Syrian fighter jets were hit. The regime is destroying every potential military target in Syria including tanks, aircraft, intelligence facilities and advanced military equipment. According to Israeli media, the regime aims to systematically destroy the Syrian army's capabilities. Meanwhile, occupation forces launched ground operations as their armored vehicles crossed into the so-called buffer zone, separating the occupied Golan Heights from Syria.
Rising Palestinian casualties
Another deadly day for Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip as the Israeli military continues to pound the blockaded territory. At least seven people were killed and a number of others injured after Israeli warplanes bombed a group of Palestinians in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. Casualties were also reported after Israeli fighter jets targeted a school housing displaced Palestinians in the Jabalia refugee camp. Israeli airstrikes on the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, have left several fatalities including children. In the south, an ambulance crew was directly hit by an air raid in Rafah. The strike also left several people injured. The Israeli aggression against Gaza began in October last year. Since then, over 44,700 people have been killed and more than 106,000 others injured.
