An Iranian researcher has received special recognition for presenting an innovative project at a BRICS event in Sochi, Russia.
Thirty young researchers representing eight BRICS countries, namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, UAE and Egypt took part in the event.
It is the first time an Iranian team participates in the event since the country gained BRICS membership last year.
At the event, innovative projects were presented by researchers from the BRICS countries in various fields such as food-related green technologies, chemical industries and agriculture, as well as the use of artificial intelligence.
A panel consisting of eight judges, each representing one of the participant BRICS countries at the event evaluated the projects based on their business models, feasibility and future prospects.
In the final evaluation, the projects from Brazil, China and Russia gained the first ranks, while Somayeh Sohrabi's project received special recognition for its meritorious design.
Russia hosted the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum in Sochi from November 25 to November 29. The forum also included the 7th BRICS Young Innovator Prize.
The forum has created a network for young scientists from BRICS countries to harness knowledge for solving common societal challenges through research and innovation.
