Another journalist killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza, raising death toll to 189

The government media office in the Gaza Strip reports that another Palestinian journalist has been killed in an Israeli airstrike, raising the death toll to 189 since last October.

The office said in a statement on Saturday that Wael Ibrahim Abu Quffa, who worked as a journalist for the Educational Quran Radio – Voice of the Islamic University, lost his life when an Israeli warplane targeted his family home close to Ain Jalut Towers area in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

He was also a lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Media at the Islamic University of Gaza.

The media office condemned the killing and urged the international community to intervene to stop Israel's "systematic" attacks on Palestinian journalists.

It also urged international organizations and governments to “hold Israel accountable by taking legal action in international courts and to put pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 44,176 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 104,473 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.
