Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh, has denounced the Zionist regime as the main source of insecurity and instability in the West Asia region, holding the United States responsible for ongoing Israeli atrocities due to its unqualified support for the occupying entity.
Al-e Sadegh made the remarks during a meeting with Mohamed al-Hassan, the UN special representative for Iraq and head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), at the Iranian Embassy in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Saturday.
He reaffirmed Iran's principled policy of supporting Iraq’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity.
Al-e Sadegh went on to condemn the recent Israeli act of aggression against Iran, stating that Israeli fighter jets used US-controlled airspace over Iraq to launch missiles at Iranian military installations in the early hours of October 26.
The Iranian diplomat also pointed to Hassan’s meeting with prominent Iraqi Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in the holy city of Najaf on November 4, saying the top cleric’s comments serve as a roadmap for the Baghdad government.
For his part, the UN special representative for Iraq and head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) appreciated Iran’s primary role in the restoration of security and stability in Iraq and West Asia, describing Baghdad-Tehran relations as closely intertwined.
He characterized the current situation in the region as alarming, emphasizing that the solution to the ongoing crises depends on the vigilance exercised by regional governments.
