Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi (R) and Sudan's Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Gibril Ibrahim Mohamed discuss bilateral, trade, and economic issues on November 9.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met with Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Gibril Ibrahim Mohamed, to discuss bilateral, trade, and economic issues.

The Sudanese minister, leading an economic delegation on his visit to Iran, also held talks on Wednesday with Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Abdolnaser Hemmati.

Both officials welcomed the restoration of diplomatic relations and expressed hope that this new chapter would bolster economic and trade growth between the two nations.

In the meeting, Mohamed highlighted Sudan’s investment potential, noting its fertile land, agricultural production—including oilseeds, sesame, and peanuts—as well as livestock farming and rich underground resources, signaling the Sudanese government and public’s enthusiasm for expanding economic ties with Iran.

Both sides reaffirmed the readiness of their governments to deepen bilateral relations.

On Friday, Mohamed visited Iran’s central province of Qom to explore its investment opportunities and toured the city’s historic and religious sites.
