Iran welcomes appointment of Sheikh Qassem as Hezbollah chief

Sheikh Naim Qassem has replaced martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as the secretary-general of the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has welcomed the appointment of Sheikh Naim Qassem as the secretary-general of the Lebanese Resistance movement Hezbollah.

Sheikh Qassem was officially elected on Tuesday by the group's Shura Council. He replaced Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was martyred in an Israeli strike on southern Beirut in late September.

Foreign Minister Araghchi described the appointment as “a new chapter” in the steadfast life of Lebanon’s Islamic Resistance in its struggle against the terrorist Zionist regime.

"Under your leadership, the blessed tree of resistance in Lebanon will grow stronger and more fruitful than ever."

"I firmly believe that, with the grace of the Almighty and the courage of Lebanon's brave youth on the frontlines of jihad and resistance, we will soon witness the ultimate victory of the Resistance front against the axis of evil and terror."

"Both friends and foes alike will recognize that Resistance is alive and will remain so, with the pure blood of its leaders continuing to inspire and guide the youth of today and generations to come."

“We pray to Almighty God for your health and continued success, and we ask for prosperity, honor, divine support, and ultimate victory for the great Islamic Ummah, especially the courageous and resilient people of Lebanon,” the Iranian foreign minister stated.
