X lifts short-lived ban on Iran’s Leader’s Hebrew-language account

The X platform suspended Khamenei.ir’s Hebrew-language account on October 27 just hours after it was launched.

The X social media platform has lifted its ban on the Hebrew-language account of the office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Kahmenei just a day after it suspended the account right after it was launched.

The https://x.com/Khamenei_Heb was accessible late on Monday less than 24 hours after the X suspended the page without offering any reasons.

The suspension had also come two days after Israel carried out limited attacks on Iran’s military sites to apparently respond to Iran’s massive missile attacks on the regime in early October.

The Hebrew-language account of Khamenei.ir had posted only two posts before it was brought down late on Sunday. One was the Hebrew translation of the phrase “In the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful” and the other was a quote from Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech early on Sunday about wrong calculations that led to Israel’s attacks on Iran in the early hours of Saturday.

That came as the same quote had been published on Khamenei.ir's English-language account on X which has 1.3 million followers.

Many had viewed X’s decision to suspend the account as an attempt to deprive the Hebrew-speaking audience in the Israeli-occupied territories from Iran’s enlightening campaign about Israel’s ongoing wars in the region.

Ayatollah Khamenei’s accounts and pages on the internet have been subject to bans in the past by social media companies that are based in the US and closely follow the political lines set by the US government.

The policy has also been applied to numerous Iranian websites and social media pages that challenge the dominant narrative of the US government and its allies about global and regional developments.
