Iran's military power unaffected by Israeli attack: Security chief

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian says Israel’s recent aggression against the country has had no impact on the Islamic Republic’s military power.

“This operation did not even have a minimum impact on Iran’s military power,” Ahmadian told reporters on Monday as he visited the office of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in Tehran.

The Israeli regime attacked several Iranian military facilities early Saturday, killing four servicemen of the Armed Forces and one civilian.

Iran’s Air Defense Base said some limited damage was caused in some areas, the dimensions of which are being investigated.

Iran has emphasized that it is not looking for war but will not abandon its right to give an appropriate and firm response to Israel’s latest act of aggression.

In a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UN Security Council President Pascale Christine Baeriswyl on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for an urgent United Nations Security Council meeting to condemn the Israeli attack on the Islamic Republic.

Ahmadian further paid tribute to the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and said the resistance front achieved a victory in the confrontation with the Israeli regime and its supporters.

He added that the Zionist enemy has failed to achieve its goals after more than a year since the beginning of its genocidal war against the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

Sinwar, who served as chairman of Hamas Political Bureau, was found dead in southern Gaza city of Rafah on October 17, wearing a combat vest with an AK-47 rifle by his side.

The charismatic and courageous leader of Hamas had escaped many assassination attempts before and after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.
