A group of youth activists in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah have condemned in the strongest terms a recent affront by Saudi-owned media outlets to the martyred leaders and top commanders of the resistance front.

Saudi Arabia’s MBC television channel bureau in Iraq, in a report on Friday, described martyred commanders and leaders of the Axis of Resistance as “terrorists,” sparking outrage among supporters of the popular movement.

In a similar move later, Al Arabiya also attempted to cover Israel’s year-long genocidal wars on the besieged Gaza Strip and Lebanon in a way aimed at weakening the morale of Palestinians and Lebanese.

“We look at the Arab channels that have been nursed by the Zionists for they have become Zionists more than the Zionists themselves. After one year of the war, these channels continue to convey the misleading narratives of the occupation and they [the occupation] convey their narratives; Al Arabiya channel came out in a line of speech calling our martyrs dead, and MBC channel came out accusing our resistance of terrorism,” the group said.

Stressing that the headquarters and offices of the Saudi-owned outlets will be closed in Ramallah, the group added, “We announce there will be no welcome nor ease for you in our country and you will have no prosperity here… and all those who convey the narratives of the occupation or even think about abusing our glorious resistance or taking advantage of our righteous martyrs, we will treat them as we treat the occupiers of this land.”

After MBC aired the disrespectful report on the commanders and leaders of the Axis of Resistance, the Iraqi government revoked the license of the Saudi-owned television channel in the country and ordered the broadcaster to close its bureau in Baghdad.

Angry Iraqi youths set fire to the office of MBC channel in Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The media regulatory body in Saudi Arabia also summoned officials from the private broadcaster MBC and said the report was “in violation of the Kingdom’s media regulations and policy.”

Algerian authorities also suspended the license of Al Arabiya to operate in the country over its biased reporting.

Since October 2023, the US-Israeli genocide across the besieged Gaza Strip has killed over 42,700 Palestinians and injured nearly 100,000 others.

Israel has since been targeting Lebanon and left as many as 2,483 Lebanese people dead and 11,628 others wounded as a result of its intensified attacks against the country.

Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement has been responding to the aggression with numerous retaliatory operations, targeting the occupied Palestinian territories.
