Iran says the countries in West Asia are engaged in attempts to organize “public mobilization” aimed at stopping Israel’s killing machine in the region.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks at his weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday, as Israel’s brutal two-front aggression has killed at least 42,603 people in the Gaza Strip and 2,464 others in Lebanon since early October 2023.

“We know that the countries of the region, in interaction with their partners, are trying to organize public mobilization against the killing” of innocent people by the occupying regime, he said.

Baghaei also noted that the Islamic Republic welcomes any country that helps stop Israel’s warmongering and crimes in Gaza, reminding all signatories to the UN’s 1948 Genocide Convention of their duties under the human rights treaty.

While bogged down in the quagmire of Gaza and Lebanon, Israel has recently stepped up its threats against Iran.

Recently, purported top secret US intelligence outlining Israel’s plans for an attack on Iran were leaked online.

Iran ‘fully ready’ to respond to act of aggression

The spokesman said that he has no opinion about the validity of the leaks, expressing, however, Iran’s “full readiness” to respond to any act of aggression.

“Iran has used all available information and news to repel the evil Zionist regime and is pursuing this path by relying on the capabilities of its military forces,” he emphasized.

Iran complains to UN about Israeli nuclear threats

Also in his remarks, Baghaei noted that Iran has written to the UN nuclear agency to complain about Israeli threats to strike its atomic energy sites.

“Threats to attack nuclear sites are against UN resolutions... and are condemned and rejected. Our interpretation is that these cases pose a threat to international peace and [thus] the Security Council should intervene,” he added.

Araghchi to visit Bahrain, Kuwait

Touching on Araghchi’s visits to regional countries, he said the top diplomat will travel to Bahrain and Kuwait as part of Iran’s efforts to develop peace in the region.

Iran has no doubts about sovereignty over trio islands

Regarding recent unfounded claims by the European Union and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) about the Iranian islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa in the Persian Gulf, Baghaei said, “Iran has no doubts about its territorial integrity and sovereignty over the three islands.”

He further stressed that Iran’s position “is based on all international principles regarding respect for the national sovereignty of countries.”
