Israeli forces have launched a deadly airstrike on Lebanon's Christian quarter, the first since the occupation forces started their offensive against Gaza and Lebanon.

At least 18 people were killed on Monday in the Israeli airstrike on the town of Aitou in Northern Lebanon's Zgharta district, according to Lebanon's health ministry and the Lebanese Red Cross.

It was the first attack by Israeli regime forces on the Christian-majority town since October of last year.

Till now, the main focus of the Israeli killing machine had been Southern Lebanon, the eastern Bekaa Valley, and the suburbs of the capital city of Beirut.

Hezbollah has little to no presence in the area that was targeted.

This airstrike followed a Hezbollah drone assault on an army base in northern occupied territories the previous day, which killed four Israeli soldiers and wounded dozens of others.

It was the deadliest strike by Hezbollah since Israel began its ground invasion of Lebanon nearly two weeks ago.

Over the past year, Hezbollah has launched thousands of rockets, missiles, and drones against Israeli targets in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in Gaza.
