Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi (L) and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi

The foreign ministers of Iran and Oman have called for an immediate international intervention to end the Israeli genocide and acts of aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi made the joint call during a meeting in Muscat on Monday.

The meeting focused on the dangerous situation resulting from the Israeli regime’s crimes against the Palestinian and Lebanese people and the possibility of an expansion of war in the region.

Araghchi and Busaidi called for intensified diplomacy with regional and international players to protect regional peace and security and prevent the spread of insecurity and war.

The Iranian foreign minister separately met with Mohammed Abdulsalam, senior representative of Yemen’s National Salvation Government.

Araghchi is visiting Oman as part of a diplomatic marathon to de-escalate the situation in the region as Israel pushes its deadly aggression against Lebanon and Gaza. He has so far traveled to Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq.

In talks with regional authorities, the top Iranian diplomat conveyed his country’s message that it is fully ready for a "war situation" while working for establishing peace in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

‘Very rich deliberations between Iranian, Omani FMs’

In a post on his X account, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Araghchi and Busaidi had “very rich” deliberations on issues of mutual interests and concerns based on deeply-rooted brotherly relations between the two nations.

“They exchanged views about alarming situation in the region and urged an immediate end to Israeli regime's genocide and aggression in Gaza and Lebanon,” Baghaei wrote.

He added that the top Iranian and Omani diplomats also “underscored the need for enhanced efforts to mobilize international humanitarian relief for refugees.”

Iran FM, Oman Royal Office minister discuss Gaza, Lebanon developments

Later in the day, the Iranian foreign minister and Omani Minister of the Royal Office Sultan bin Mohammed al-Numani discussed the latest developments in war-hit Gaza and Lebanon.

They assessed the ongoing situation in the region as dangerous and stressed the need to make more efforts to prevent the imposition of war and instability on the region.

The two sides emphasized that the continuation of Israel’s acts of genocide and aggression in Gaza and Lebanon are the root cause of insecurity and instability in the region.

The Iranian and Omani ministers urged the international community to take practical and immediate action to stop Israel’s crime and warmongering.

They also stressed the importance of holding constant consultations between regional countries to prevent the intensification of insecurity and to maintain peace in West Asia.

Araghchi and Numani said it is imperative to send aid to the displaced.
