Yemen’s Armed Forces have targeted Tel Aviv with two ballistic missiles, including a new one, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Palestinian fighters’ historic Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the occupied territories.

Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced the strikes on Monday, identifying the projectiles as Palestine-2 and Zulfiqar. “The operation achieved its objectives successfully,” he said.

This was the first time, when the forces were deploying Zulfiqar, a highly-maneuverable radar-evading surface-to-surface missile with a range of more than 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles), against the territories.

Earlier in the day, the forces had targeted Tel Aviv and the port of Eilat in the southernmost part of the territories with several Yaffa and Samad-4 drones, Saree added, saying, “A number of these drones successfully reached their targets.”

The operations marked one year since fighters with the Gaza Strip’s Hamas and Islamic Jihad resistance movements stormed the territories, seizing control of Israeli military bases and illegal settlements around the coastal sliver, and taking more than 240 Zionists captive.

Saree said the Yemeni strikes also meant to display the country’s continued support for the people of Gaza and Lebanon, who have respectively come under a genocidal war and escalated deadly attacks by the regime since the implementation of al-Aqsa Storm.

He said the Yemeni forces would keep up their operations until the regime ceased the war and a simultaneous siege that it has been imposing on Gaza, and also stopped its attacks on Lebanon.

Also on Monday, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the country’s Supreme Political Council, congratulated the forces for their unwavering support for Palestine and Lebanon, which has seen them launching numerous such strikes against the occupied territories since last October.

He also vowed that the forces would be “raining down hypersonic missiles” on the occupied territories “in the coming days” as means of making the Israeli regime “taste what the people of Palestine have endured."
