A US-based human rights organization has blamed the government of the United States for allowing the Israeli regime to ignite war in West Asia.

The administration of US President Joe Biden gave the Israelis a "blank check to light the region on fire," Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) stated.

Following the year-long genocidal campaign targeting the Palestinians, the Israeli military on Tuesday claimed its troops had entered southern Lebanon in preparation for a ground attack on the Lebanese nation.

The non-profit organization, which has its headquarters in Washington, DC, described the ground attack on Lebanon “the entirely predictable consequence of the Biden administration’s ceaseless coddling and resupply of weapons to Israel.”

In a statement, DAWN’s executive director blamed the Biden administration for "recklessly" backing the hawkish Israeli leaders, causing the escalation in the region.

Sarah Leah Whitson said the Biden administration “has acted recklessly in giving Israel a blank check to light the entire region on fire.”

The group said the US should be using its leverage to advance diplomatic solutions that prioritize civilian lives “over endless conflict”.

DAWN’s advocacy director called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as the logical way to end the war.

“A ceasefire in Lebanon will be impossible without first securing a ceasefire in Gaza,” said Raed Jarrar.

“Hezbollah and other armed groups have explicitly tied their actions to the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza,” said Jarrar, “so there is no hope of de-escalating the situation in Lebanon while allowing Israel to continue its atrocities in Gaza.”

In a post on X on Tuesday, the Israeli military said it is conducting a “limited ground incursion” in southern Lebanon.

If the Israelis attack, we are ready for “direct confrontation”, Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afifi said in a statement on Tuesday.
