Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani has strongly condemned the Israeli strikes against Yemen’s “civilian infrastructure” such as a power plant and fuel tanks.

“The Zionist regime’s move to attack Yemen and the country’s civilian and service infrastructure is a blatant and repeated violation of the United Nations Charter,” Kan’ani said in a statement on Sunday.

He commended Yemen’s honorable support for the oppressed people of Palestine, who have been the target of Israel’s genocidal war since October last year.

The Iranian spokesman added that the international community has a responsibility to stand against the Israeli regime’s repeated defiance of international law.

The Israeli military said in a statement on Sunday that its warplanes launched air raids on the port of Ras Isa in Yemen’s strategic western province of Hudaydah, striking al-Hali and al-Khateeb power plants as well as “sensitive” facilities belonging to Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement in the area.

'Unconditional US support'

Kan’ani said such savage attacks, which destroyed civilian infrastructures in Hudaydah, exposed the “inhumane” nature of the Israeli regime.

He added that Israel carries out its criminal acts with the “unconditional” support of the United States which is a fully-fledged accomplice in “crimes committed by the criminal gang ruling Tel Aviv”.

The spokesman once again warned about the consequences of Israel’s warmongering for regional and international peace and security.

“The supporters of this regime, including the US government, are directly responsible for the dangerous and unpredictable consequences of the Zionists’ continued crimes in Palestine and Lebanon as well as [their] aggressive and adventurist attacks on Yemen,” Kan’ani asserted.

Hudaydah contains oil export facilities but is also a vital conduit for civilian goods and humanitarian aid to Yemen. Back in July, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes against the port city, leaving at least nine people killed and 87 others wounded.

A day earlier, Yemen’s Armed Forces announced that they had targeted the Ben Gurion airport in the central part of the occupied territories.

The operation came amid the Israeli regime’s October-present genocidal war on the Gaza Strip and deadly escalation against Lebanon, which have claimed the lives of at least 41,595 Palestinians and hundreds of Lebanese. Women and children comprise the majority of the victims.
