Israel aggression against Lebanon
In Lebanon, the death toll keeps rising amid Israeli airstrikes on the southern and eastern parts of the country. Nearly 500 people have so far been killed and over 1,600 wounded in what has been the deadliest day of Israeli attacks on Lebanon since 2006. The Health Ministry says the casualties included women, children and emergency workers. Bekaa Valley and Baalbek in eastern Lebanon was one of the hardest hit areas. Israel also said it targeted senior Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki in an attack on southern Beirut. The resistance movement, however, says Karaki is well and in good health, and has moved to a safe place. Israel and Hezbollah have been engaged in almost daily clashes since October last year, when the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza. Recent days, however, have seen a drastic escalation in Israeli attacks, including the detonation of thousands of communication devices and a deadly missile strike on Beirut.
Pezeshkian UN address
Iran President, Masoud Pezeshkian says that achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ending the apartheid in Palestine are vital for fostering global development and peace. Pezeshkian was addressing the “Summit of the Future” held at the UN General Assembly. He also called for a world free of nuclear weapons and a West Asia without weapons of mass destruction. As a victim of terrorism, he noted, Iran has always led the fight against this threat and is ready to collaborate with nations dedicated to combating it. Addressing the issue of sanctions, Pezeshkian stated that unilateral sanctions have hindered progress towards sustainable development goals. He proposed that the UN Secretary-General, in collaboration with affected countries, present a comprehensive report on this issue to the General Assembly.
