Iran’s government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani says the international community must react to the Israeli regime’s recent “inhuman” acts in Lebanon.
Mohajerani made the comment on Friday after visiting Iran’s Ambassador to Beirut Mojtaba Amani, who were among those who sustained injuries in explosions targeting pagers and other communication devices across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday.
At least 30 people, including two children, were killed and 3,500 others wounded in the terrorist attacks. Amani along with some 100 injured people were transferred to Iran to undergo treatment.
The spokesperson condemned the Israeli regime’s terrorist attacks and hailed great efforts by Iranian medical staff to swiftly treat the injured.
Amani also said the Iranian government rushed to transfer a large number of the wounded to hospitals across the country.
'Pagers used by hospitals, schools'
The Iranian ambassador emphasized that all the pagers were used for human and not political purposes, noting that they were mostly distributed among hospitals, kindergartens and schools to be informed about any possible Israeli attack.
He also gave more details about the Israeli regime’s terrorist attacks.
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, whose members were among the casualties, blamed the unprecedented attacks on Israel. Hezbollah also pledged to retaliate.
Tel Aviv has so far declined to comment on the attacks, which have already heightened global concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah could escalate into a full-scale war.
In a letter to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani said Tehran reserves the right to respond to the recent act of sabotage and terrorism by the rogue Israeli regime in Lebanon.
