‘Declaration of war’: Snippets from Hezbollah leader’s speech following device blasts

By Alireza Hashemi

Following mass device explosions in Lebanon orchestrated by the Israeli regime, Hezbollah resistance movement leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a televised speech on Thursday.

More than two dozen Lebanese citizens were killed in the explosions that were first reported in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday and at least 3,000 others were injured.

The casualties included little children. The blasts sparked anger and outrage against the Tel Aviv regime.

In his much-anticipated speech on Thursday, Hezbollah leader vowed that the Zionist regime will “see” rather than “hear” about the movement’s retaliation to the terrorist operation.

He noted that the regime’s terror attacks only make it harder for settlers to return to their settlements in northern occupied Palestine and that the movement will not halt its anti-Israel operations as long as the genocidal war against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip continues.

“Whatever the sacrifices, whatever the consequences, whatever is going to happen, we will not stop supporting Gaza, and the front in Lebanon won’t stop before there is a ceasefire in Gaza,” he declared.

Nasrallah said the apartheid regime intended to kill as many as 5,000 Lebanese people in terror attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the plot was unsuccessful.

Here are snippets from the speech delivered by the Lebanese leader:

  • Nasrallah offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to those admitted to hospitals with injuries. He commended the efforts of medical personnel and volunteers who worked tirelessly to assist those affected by the explosions.

  • Nasrallah said the Israeli regime intended to kill 5,000 people in Lebanon and also endangered thousands of others around them within minutes through device explosions, once again showcasing the depth of its criminality.

  • Hezbollah leader described the device explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday across Lebanon as a major terrorist operation—an act of genocide and massacre that crossed all red lines.

  • Hezbollah leader said the attacks targeted civilian areas, including hospitals, markets, and residential neighborhoods, demonstrating a blatant disregard for human life and amounting to a declaration of war against the Lebanese nation.

  • Lebanese resistance movement leader said the attacks are a "heavy blow," but emphasized that such setbacks are part of any war. He reassured supporters that Hezbollah remains resilient and committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosions.

  • Nasrallah said after the attacks on Tuesday, the Israeli regime sent a message to Hezbollah through official and unofficial channels threatening that if the front was not closed there would be more attacks. The front remained open and more attacks followed on Wednesday.

  • Hezbollah leader vowed that the Lebanese front against the Zionist regime will not stop until the genocide in Gaza does not end and a ceasefire is not reached.

  • Nasrallah vowed that Zionists would face "just punishment" for their actions, emphasizing that retaliation would be both on expected and unexpected lines.

  • Hezbollah leader said the enemy will “see” rather than “hear” about the Lebanese resistance movement’s response to the latest terror attacks. He asserted that the current phase of conflict is particularly sensitive and requires careful navigation.

  • Nasrallah noted that the Israeli threats and terror operations demonstrate how painful Hezbollah’s anti-Israel operations have been (since the events of Oct. 7).

  • Hezbollah leader said the movement achieved a "strategic victory" through its war of attrition attacks on Zionists, forcing the regime to admit historical defeat in the north.

  • Lebanese resistance movement leader asserted that the latest Israeli attacks did not shake the movement or its supporters. He said what happened did not impact the group’s command, control, or infrastructure in any way.

  • Nasrallah acknowledged that there are lessons to be learned by the Lebanese movement and vowed that the movement will become more powerful after enduring these challenges.

  • Hezbollah leader said the attacks were an attempt to deter more anti-Israel operations and allow settlers to return to northern occupied Palestine. However, he stressed that Israel's aggression complicates any hope for settlers returning to their settlements in the north.

  • Nasrallah said the movement fighters are determined to continue their operations in support of Gaza, adding that the resistance cannot back down in the face of Israeli savagery.

  • Hezbollah leader vowed that the Lebanese resistance fighters are ready for sacrifices and consequences but will not abandon their oppressed brothers in Palestine.

  • Hezbollah leader said if the Israeli regime seeks to create a border buffer zone in southern Lebanon, it will be a “trap” and create a “historic opportunity” for Hezbollah to deliver significant blows to Israel.

  • Nasrallah said the “security zone” that the Israeli regime dreams of in south will be turned to “hell” for the regime troops, warning that the regime will face those it attacked on Tuesday and Wednesday who have now become more determined to fight the enemy.

  • Lebanese resistance leader said the resistance will keep its plans and intentions for a “severe response” against the Israeli regime to its close circles.

  • Nasrallah noted that the “foolish, narcissistic, savage” leadership of the Israeli regime is leading the Zionist entity to its demise, warning that escalation will only push more settlers out.

  • Hezbollah leader said the enemy does not understand the deep cultural and sentimental relationship the people of Lebanon and the resistance share, adding that the regime has failed and will continue to fail to achieve its goals.

  •  In his closing remarks, he said the days, weeks and months, and even years are ahead, calling it a “big battle” that will also be a “long one.”
