UK media coverage of Israeli actions in Gaza biased

In protests outside the BBC and mass rallies nationwide, Britons are calling out the bias in British mainstream journalism in its coverage of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.

They accuse the media of hypocrisy, racism, and complicity, claiming that non-white lives are undervalued and that Israeli accounts are presented as facts without verification.

It's appalling. This isn't journalism. It's completely hypocritical and it's racist. So it's treating people who are not white, their lives are treated in a different way to white people.

Those could be my children. Those could be my colleagues. You know, healthcare workers and the Western media is completely complicit and culpable.

The protesters express a deep distrust in the media’s ability to provide accurate, critical, and historically contextual reporting on the conflict.

And they say it's not just the BBC. The problem is endemic to British mass media.

I think it's become really apparent that our media is not impartial, and hasn't been reporting on everything, and not reporting on everything fairly, from mistranslations to just ignoring stuff.

The glaring bias they are alleging can readily be seen in the headlines, omitting the perpetrator of attacks in Gaza or casting doubt on casualty numbers from Israeli strikes, questioning the veracity of Palestinian accounts while presenting Israeli accounts as solid, irrefutable facts.

So the media is complicit. The majority of the mainstream media are complicit.

Everything Israel says is taken at face value, as fact, with no verification, with no evidence, with no truth checking, and it's reported as fact.

Even their evil words are reported. You know, they should be censored. They shouldn't be given this voice.

But there's more to the problem than just the headlines. It's the stories they do not cover, such as the UK military intelligence support for Israel in Gaza, revealed by an alternative media organization.

Today's protest also exposes a deep chasm between the British public and the British mainstream media.

The general public holds that it cannot trust the British media to provide accurate, critical, and, historically contextual, coverage of the genocidal war on Palestinians.
