Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says the continuation of consultations with Yemen will play a significant role in increasing security in the region.
In a phone conversation with Jamal Ahmed Ali Amer, the foreign minister of Yemen’s National Salvation Government, on Saturday, Araqchi stressed the need to further develop mutual relations.
He commended Yemen’s stance in support of the Palestinian people and condemnation of the ongoing Israeli regime’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
At a time when many countries are merely expressing their stance against the Israeli regime, the Yemeni government and people supported the oppressed Palestinians in practice, the top Iranian diplomat emphasized.
Araqchi invited his Yemeni counterpart to travel to Tehran to proceed with the talks on issues of common interests in various mutual and regional areas.
Amer, for his part, pointed to heightened tensions in the region and joint US-Britain military attacks on Yemen and emphasized that Sana’a will not change its stance on support for the oppressed people of Palestine.
The Yemeni foreign minister called for the development of mutual relations and regional cooperation.
Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.
The Yemeni forces have also conducted many operations against American and British vessels in response to deadly attacks by the United States and the UK against their country, which have been seeking to stop the forces’ pro-Palestinian operations.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have said that they won’t stop their attacks until unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza end.
So far, at least 40,939 people Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed and 94,616 people wounded in the war.
