The commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force says the country has ascended to the top air defense power in the region and is fully ready to ward off any aerial threats as "extensive" measures have been implemented to upgrade radar and missile systems, says the force's commander.
"In line with strengthening the country's defense capabilities, the Army’s Air Defense Force has undertaken extensive measures to upgrade its radar and missile systems," said Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard on Friday during a visit to Iran’s Northeast Air Defense region.
"Joint maneuvers with other armed forces also demonstrate the full readiness of the air defense to protect the country's airspace," he added.
He stressed that this milestone is the culmination of years of efforts by domestic experts and substantial investments in the defense sector.
He said these advancements have greatly enhanced the security of Iran's airspace, ensuring full readiness against any aerial threats.
During his visit, the general inspected various positions in the area and assessed the combat and operational readiness of the forces.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining combat readiness and vigilance among personnel to defend the country's airspace effectively.
The visit came amid heightened tensions in the West Asia region following the Israeli regime's assassination of late Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh.
Iran has vowed to retaliate against the Israeli attack.
